Members of Local 894 who work at the Group Health Centre in Sault Ste. Marie voted in favour of a strike and are scheduled to hit the picket lines on July 26. These valuable health care workers service over 80,000 people a year in the Sault Ste. Marie area and have worked tirelessly throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Local has been in bargaining since spring 2024 and the Employer refuses to offer a real wage increase.
These health care workers should not have to scrape by every month. Members of Local 894 are overworked and underpaid and they must be treated fairly!
